Most things are answered below. If yours isn’t, write to privacy@platecalm.tech and a person will read it.
Your data
How do I delete everything?
Settings → Delete all data. This erases every dose, symptom, meal, scan, check-in, weight entry and note, along with your preferences, your saved reminders and the cached subscription state. It is immediate and permanent, and there is no copy anywhere else — we never had one.
Deleting the app from your phone also removes its stored log.
Where is my data actually stored?
In PlateCalm’s private storage on your device, protected by your device passcode. There is no account, no server of ours, and no cloud sync. If you lose the phone without a backup, the log is gone — that is the trade-off that comes with nothing being uploaded.
Can I get my data out?
Yes, and the CSV export is free for everyone. Reports → Export CSV data gives you every raw entry. Reports → Export PDF report produces the clinician summary, which is part of Pro. Both go through the standard iOS share sheet, so you choose where they end up.
Does PlateCalm read my Apple Health data?
Only what you switch on, one source at a time, in Settings → Apple Health. It can read water, protein, fiber, body weight and sleep so you don’t have to retype them. The only thing it can write back is water, and only if you turn that on. Nothing else is requested, including anything from Health Records.
Subscription
How do I cancel?
Subscriptions are managed by Apple, not by us, so cancelling happens in iOS: Settings → your name → Subscriptions → PlateCalm → Cancel. You can also reach it from inside the app at Settings → Manage plan. Cancelling stops the next renewal; you keep Pro until the period you already paid for ends.
If you are on the annual free trial, cancel at least 24 hours before it ends and you are not charged.
I paid but Pro isn't showing.
Settings → Restore. That re-checks your purchases with the App Store using the Apple ID on the device. If you bought on a different Apple ID, sign in with that one first. If it still doesn’t appear, email us with the date of purchase and we’ll look into it.
Can I get a refund?
Refunds are handled entirely by Apple — we can’t issue them. Use reportaproblem.apple.com with the Apple ID you purchased on.
Using the app
What does the ring on the Today screen mean?
It’s your dose cycle. Each segment is one day counted since your last logged dose, and the apricot segment at the top is the dose day itself. It fills as days pass, so a glance tells you where you are in the week without reading a date.
What is Menu Lens?
Paste a menu and it compares each dish against the descriptors you’ve logged before — how often something fried or dairy-heavy has appeared near a rough patch in your own entries. It is a reflection of your history, not nutrition advice, and it never claims a dish will cause anything.
How do I lock the app?
Settings → App Lock. It uses Face ID or Touch ID with your device passcode as the fallback, and locks again whenever the app goes to the background. It’s part of Pro.
The app says it couldn't open my saved data.
That alert means PlateCalm started with an empty temporary log for this session, so nothing you add will be kept. Restart the app first. If it appears every single time you launch, email us before adding anything — your existing data is most likely still intact on the device, and we would rather look at it than have it written over.
Something medical?
We can help with the app, but not with your treatment. PlateCalm records what you log and nothing more — it doesn’t diagnose, recommend a dose or a schedule, or predict how a change will feel. For anything about your medication, please talk to your clinician or pharmacist. If you feel unwell, contact them or your local emergency service.
